Visa Information
International participants are responsible for checking the entry requirements applicable to their nationality and country of residence before traveling to Korea.
Depending on your nationality, you may enter Korea either:
- visa-free, with K-ETA (check eligible countries)
- C-3-1 visa through a Korean embassy or consulate
Participants who are eligible for visa-free entry must obtain K-ETA approval before boarding a flight or ship to Korea. Please apply for K-ETA through the official K-ETA website. The K-ETA application fee is KRW 10,000 (approximately USD 7–8), plus any applicable online payment processing fee. K-ETA reviews are typically completed within 72 hours, but may take longer depending on application volume and individual circumstances. Please check eligible countries, and if you are not eligible for visa-free entry or K-ETA, you may need to apply for a visa before visiting Korea.
Participants who require a visa should apply for a C-3-1 short-term visa, which is suitable for academic events. Applicants may begin the process through the Korea Visa Portal, where you can complete the e-Form (Visa) online. To do so, go to the Korea Visa Portal, select [Application], then [e-Form (Visa)], complete the application form online, and print the completed form with the barcode. The printed e-Form, together with the required supporting documents, should then be submitted to the relevant Korean embassy, consulate, or visa application center, as instructed by the consular authority with jurisdiction over the applicant’s place of residence. You can find more details about this visa application on Korea Visa Portal. We strongly recommend that participants who may need a visa begin the application process as early as possible, since processing times and appointment availability may vary by location. Please also note that obtaining a visa does not guarantee entry into Korea. Final entry is determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry.
